barrington: (Hitch-Hiker)

I saw this last night; it's my favourite theatre in decay piece. It's a visual and mental spectacle, and if I have any criticism it is only of the two leads, who aren't quite up to the task laid before them. But even they have their moments, and contrary to expectation, this piece is not a rant but almost a retrospective of the last three years and what they mean - or should mean - to us.

If you question or deny any engagement with the War on Terror, if you wonder how Howard or Bush could be re-elected, if you've ever wondered why so many people seem to turn a blind eye, hell if you'd even just like a timely reminder of the last three years' insanity, Mata Gelap is a show you should see. So see it, and spread the word if you do. Tickets are 2 for 1 until Sunday December 5th, so you've no excuse not to go in the next few days if you've nothing on.

Descent Five : Mata Gelap
"This is Historic Times"

Mata Gelap examines how the little tragedies of our own lives, for us, far outweigh the titanic tragedies of the world.

In Mata Gelap we follow a young couple, Mickey and Elisheba, through four years of their relationship, set against the back drop of the War on Terror from 9/11 to the date of performance. Morphing puppetry, dance, instillation, movement, circus and music we watch as Mickey and Elisheba battle the seas of their own passions, while in the shadows behind them the forces which shape world history are made manifest.
