1. How does it feel to be performing your own work? How is it different from performing another writer's play?
It feels great, because I'm not just telling a story, I'm telling my story. Well, it's also the story of science, but I mean it's mine in the sense I wrote it. Or at least adapted it from my life and the history of science. It's a passion I have that I get to communicate to the audience.

As for how it's different to performing another author's work, [livejournal.com profile] spunkart put it best when he said that the "sacred" nature of the text doesn't apply to your own work. Instead of trying to work out the sense the writer wanted, why she chose the words she did, and learning those lines verbatim, I found that since I knew what I meant, what I wanted to get across, I would take liberties with the actual text. This is probably a mistake, since I also chose the words I wrote down for a reason, but occasionally through the performance I would find better ways to say things. Oh, and performing your own text also means there's one less person to blame if the show is no good!
