I'll just put you through

Lazing around this morning, and my mobile rings. It's some woman I don't know from a company I also don't know and she has found me, on Seek, and has a temporary reception position for me.

For today.

Starting, ooh... 42 minutes ago.

And here I am, answering phones, talking to employees (a couple of the girls actually said "I've never seen a male receptionist before."), browsing the Internet on company time... For the first time, there really isn't anything for me to do between phone calls. Amazing.

I'll be paid, well if not handsomely. I'm meeting a few new people. And I'll now have honest to goodness reception experience on my resume. Situation: excellent.

Oh...a man just walked upstairs without his shoes on. Weird.

[4:21pm Update: The mystery is solved. There's a shower next to the toilets; this guy probably went for a lunchtime jog or bike ride or something and had a shower afterwards.]

Now that's cleared up...

The reception job? One day only. A half-day, at that. Some people's comments led me to think I was ambiguous.
