If trapped on the island alone, let's be honest, most of us would like to something at least erotic, if not pornographic. That's where Mullholland Drive comes in; it's not a favourite of mine, but it has sexy bits and I've only seen it once. Plus, if I only had four other DVDs, maybe I'd watch it enough times to figure out what's going on?

Number 5 is because I'd want at least one thing I'd never seen, and I'm assuming I have to go this weekend. (I disqualified things like The Princess Bride, This Is Spinal Tap, Blackadder and so on because I have the sort of memory that can regurgitate most of such things at will.) This also assumes magical instant DVD powers, or at least an Internet connection and the will to commit video piracy.

Could all seven seasons of West Wing count as five DVDs? I could watch that forever. (And yes, I'm rewatching it all right now.)

Mine would probably be Philadelpha Story, Casablanca, Wings of Desire, Truly Madly Deeply and Fargo.

I love Philadelphia Story, though it caused me much angst when I watched it with a previous girlfriend and she declared it very sexist. I can kind of see her point, but knowing you like it too I'm not so worried about liking it myself.

Casablanca nearly made my list too!

I saw Wings of Desire years ago and rather enjoyed it, though I think one of my college friends fell asleep during it.

I've not seen Truly Madly Deeply or Fargo; as usual when I find out someone of taste likes something, I have now decided to see them.

Tonight I'm watching Naked Lunch with a friend; we've both just recently read the novel. Should be...interesting.
